Another Wright Breakdown for the Busy --

NPR's take on the stimulus bill deconstructed: If you're in a hurry, all you need to understand the issue is to read the red and blue sections. You'll have perspective, and some laughs.

(NPR) Earmark-Free Stimulus Bill Lacks Spending Direction--which means it lacks "direction" from Washington -- which means the people closer to the problems will direct the money.  This is actually a good thing. It's almost a little bit of federalism wrapped up in a socialist style confiscation of wealth.  It's the ONLY good thing about this horrible bill in fact.

Morning Edition, February 6, 2009 · When congressional leaders began to assemble the mammoth economic stimulus bill, top Democrats and the Obama administration decided that there would be no earmarks: no "special projects," no pork-barrel spending. In so doing, they gave up some control over how the money is spent, leaving the decision to public servants around the country. --not to mention the fact that the WHOLE THING is one giant earmark.

"Someone has to decide how money gets spent. It's either going to be Congress or the executive branch or states or municipalities," says Fred Wertheimer of the congressional watchdog group Democracy 21.

Lawmakers had good reasons for stripping earmarks from the bill, Wertheimer says, because "they are simply going to become huge targets for attacking the credibility of the package, and they may very well end up as abusive earmarks."--ShaZAAM. You think?

It was a wise political decision, he says. But pulling earmarks out of the bill changes the balance of power in the government. If members of Congress aren't writing into the bill how the money will be spent, then someone else must make those decisions -- or, in this case, a lot of people.--like I said, a smidgeon of federalism inserted into this socialist dream legislation. For you Obama voters, federalism does NOT MEAN more power for the Federal govt. It means more control on the state and local level.

"Because there is so much money here, and in so many different forms, there is no single pathway for the money to go out to states and localities," says Sarah Binder of the Brookings Institution.--so what the hell, let's give four BILLION to ACORN!!!

'This Is An Emergency'--and as Rahm Emanuel says, an emergency is a terrible thing to waste.....

When this bill passes, a Niagara Falls of money will flow out of Washington and into the accounts of state highway commissioners, governors and legislatures, local school boards, county executives -- even mayors, Binder says.--govt, unions, govt, unions, govt, unions....not a damned thing for the private sector.

"It raises a whole host of questions about how efficiently money can be spent, how effectively it will be spent, how quickly money can be spent, just because there's no set process here for determining how money will get out the door to create jobs or, as the president said, to save jobs," she says.

U.S. Rep. David Obey (D-WI), the chairman of the House Appropriations Committee, helped write the bill and says he doesn't like being asked about earmarks.--Democrats don't like being asked about anything. We are to simply shut up and trust their hope and change.

"We simply made a decision, which took about three seconds, not to have earmarks in the bill," he says. "And with all due respect, that's the least important question facing us on putting together this package."--and with all due respect to you -- which is none -- it IS very important.

Leaving out the earmarks does mean Congress will have less control over how the money is spent. But, Obey says, "So what? This is an emergency. We've got to simply find a way to get this done as fast as possible and as well as possible, and that's what we're doing."

That doesn't mean Congress will be responsible if the money is spent badly, he says.--you gotta love pre emptive CYA!!! And by the way, congress WILL be held responsible because this money WILL BE SPENT BADLY.

"The person who spends the money badly will be responsible. We are simply trying to build as many protections in as possible," Obey says. "We have more oversight built into this package than any package in the history of man.--yeah, just like the Obama administration will be the most ethical in the history of man --- ahem!!!  If money is spent badly, we want to know about it so we can hold accountable the people who made that choice. And guess what? Regardless of what we do, there will be some stupid decisions made."

How To Avoid Disappointment?

As it stands now, says David Walker, a former U.S. comptroller general, the bill appears to have no mechanism for directing spending. It's left up to those state and local officials, who may or may not have the ideas or the means to spend it appropriately.--they have a very clear idea. Spend it with every left wing anti American anti business left wing special interest group you can get it to.  And that will lead to "a series of disappointments that it's too late to do anything about," Walker says.

The bill does make it possible for lawmakers and the public to track the money -- but only after it's spent. And that, he says, will lead to bad surprises.--when in the history of Gov't programs has this NOT BEEN THE CASE?

Take, for example, the giant bank bailout known as TARP. That spending has gone all wrong, Walker says. Though the inspector general and the Government Accountability Office are keeping track of the billions spent there, "they're basically reporting on what didn't happen," he says.

"Well, it's a little bit late," he says. "And so the question is, what are you going to do on a prospective basis? I mean, you can't change history.--hell yeah you can, or at least the media and the liberal candidates to that every election cycle.  What are you going to do on a prospective basis to minimize the possibility of being disappointed again?"

Fun Friday's in Arnold's Khalifornya

We are not sure anyone will be able to tell, but many government workers in California will now have "furlough Fridays" in an attempt to cut government cost in the Golden State.

It is our experience that most government employees do not work even while they are on the clock. We could actually see a surge in California's economy if enough bureaucrats stay home and quit screwing up business.

Who is Dumber? Pelosi or Reid

That is the burning question of our day. The nation, of course, will suffer greatly as these two very mediocre talents with no understanding of business reality continue the war on prosperity.

Pelosi might be taking the lead in this dubious contest, with more evidence HERE.

And The Beat Goes On -- Tax Deadbeat that is...

Apparently anyone who cheats on their taxes might be picked by Barack Obama to be in his cabinet. You can't make this stuff up. Of course, we now know why Democrats like tax hikes. They sure as hell don't plan on paying taxes (Charlie Rangel, Tim Geithner, Tom Daschle, etc etc etc).

De Constructing Obama on Gitmo: Too EZ

Too easy maybe -- but funny as all get out. (all you need is to read the highlights in red and instant analysis in blue. Tis the best analysis for the busy conservative producer.) Really, just read the red and blue -- and see if you don't have the gist of the story. You will. And you'll laugh.

Obama voices concern about freed Guantanamo inmates--oh, he's still gonna free them, but he is "concerned" about it.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama said in an interview aired on Monday he worried that detainees freed from the U.S. military prison at Guantanamo, Cuba, might resume attacks on the United States.--well no kidding. What was your first clue?
But he told NBC News that closure of the prison was a matter of upholding U.S. values and law, and that a failure to do so would ultimately make Americans less secure.--No BHO, closing the prison is a matter of liberal stupidity which will make Americans less secure INSTANTLY.
"Can we guarantee that they're not going to try to participate in another attack? No," Obama said. "But what I can guarantee is that if we don't uphold our Constitution and our values, that over time that will make us less safe. And that will be a recruitment tool for organizations like al-Qaeda."--THAT OVER TIME is liberal speak for we're doing something stupid NOW and hoping that you will forget we did it over time.
In one of the first acts of his new administration, Obama, who was sworn in as U.S. president on January 20, signed an executive order directing that Guantanamo prison be closed within a year.--luckily for Obama, and maybe all of us, his idiot supporters don't have a memory that will last that long.
Some 250 terrorism suspects are being held at Guantanamo, many of them detained for years without charge and some subjected to interrogation that human rights groups say amounted to torture.
Obama critics note that even former President George W. Bush wanted to close Guantanamo. They say the difficult issue is deciding what to do with the inmates because they cannot be sent home for fear of torture, and other countries are unwilling to take them.--ok, so we can't send them to THEIR homes due to torture -- and we're the bad guys HOW in this equation?
There also are fears some may return to their attacks against the United States. Several of the detainees released by the Bush administration again became active in anti-U.S. militant groups.--well SHAZAAM!!! Who'd a thunk it?
"Is it going to be easy?" Obama asked in the interview. "No, because we've got a couple hundred of hard-core militants that, unfortunately, because of ... some problems that we had previously in gathering evidence, we may not be able to try in ordinary courts but we don't want to release."--let Dick Cheney try and get away with saying this.
But he expressed confidence that the administration would ultimately find a solution balancing security and U.S. legal values.
"I have to make the very best judgments I can make in terms of what's going to keep the American people safe and ... what's going to uphold our Constitution and our traditions of due process," Obama said. "And what I'm convinced of is -- we can balance those interests in a way that makes all of us proud but also assures that we're not attacked."--and what I am convinced of is that you are a constitutional idiot. There IS NO DUE PROCESS for the enemy. Never has been!

Too Funny: Daschle De-Constructed by Wright

In this busy world, there is no better way to quickly cut to the chase than with a Wright show prep de-construct. You simply read the red highlights and the analysis in blue, and you have the entire story in about a tenth of the time.

(Daschle reimbursed the IRS $31,462 in taxes and interest for tax year 2005; $35,546 for 2006; and $34,935 for 2007, a Daschle spokesperson said, adding that Daschle had asked his accountant to look into the tax implications of the car and driver five months before Obama won the presidency.) -"look into" but do nothing -- until he was in fact appointed to a cushy cabinet post.

Is Michael Steele The Answer for the RNC?

Michael Steele has now been elected Chairman of the RNC. He is bright, articulate and in past elections in Maryland shown some humor and an ability to fight hard.

All of this is good.

However, as a Fox News Analyst, he also demonstrated the ability to go squishy - moderate from time to time. This is precisely NOT what the RNC needs. (MORE LATER)

What Matters To Tony Dungy? Really.

For many years, I have thought Tony Dungy was all about his faith and how he could be a desciple for that faith by how he lived his high profile life as an NFL coach.

I really did. I bought it. I knew, intellectually, that Dungy was black. But I never harped on it. He never seemed to harp on it. Until now.

Think about it. Jets and office renovations are great for STIMULUS. Isn't that what we need?

So, Who is Running the GOP Now?

The Republicans might not know who their leader is, but the Democrats sure know who their enemy is. (Hint: It ain't John McCain).

It is Rush Limbaugh. Here is some proof.

Obama V. Rush: Obama Better "Bring His A-Game"

Could Obama versus Limbaugh be the battle royal that conservatives have been waiting for? Could it be the fight that the Bush Administration was accused of fighting -- but NEVER DID?

It just might be. I suspect Rush is ready. As is Operation Chaos. See singular take here.

Bush Legacy: The End of Reagan -- Beginning of Obama

George Bush's legacy will not be defined by the Keith Olbermann style derangement so common in the main stream media for eight years.

Nor will it be the fluffy pasty sweet "he was a decent man who kept us all safe" take ala Sean Hannity or Bill Sammon. Nope. None of the above.

Bush's legacy is the end of Reagan and the beginning of Obama. Check out this peerless look at the pending Bush legacy in this extraordinary piece.

Taxes: Why Geithner and Rangel Really Matter

Our Tax Code: The Ridiculous Year End Dance

This is related to what Joe the Plumber was chatting with Barack Obama about.

Our tax code forces businesses to do a ridiculous fiscal year end dance each and every year. This year, with the new administration and congress on the horizon, it might have been more critical than ever.
